Sheep's head and brown cheese, anyone?

Top Ten Eatables!

We were asked to find the top ten eatables of Norwegian food and so we did. Agree or disagree, but anyways, enjoy! ;)

- Komla, " Raspeballer" : Grey balls made of flour, potatoes, salt and water. First you cook them for about 1 hour and then you serve them with bacon, potatoes, sausages and mashed swede.

- Kjøttkaker : Meat balls served with potatoes, pea-pudding(mashed peas),bilberry jam and gravy.

- Grandiosa : Norway's national junk food. Popular with everybody and under a constant discussion about whether or not to remove the paprika.

- Grøt : Good old days flashback. Rice porridge served with sugar, cinnamon and a big lump of butter in the middle.. Mmmm!!

- Pinnekjøtt : What almost everybody eat for Christmas or New Years. Lam's meat steamed over a couple of hours, served with potatoes, mashed swede, sprouts, bilberry jam and gravy.

- Kransekake: Cake made of almonds, icing sugar and egg white. Twirl the dough into round circles, increasing in size. Decorated with Norwegian flags, icing and firecrackers. Typical for birthdays and celebration.

- Brunost : Cheese made of cows milk and goats milk.. Don't really know how you make it after that but google it if you want to know and you'll find out ;)
Lovely on warm homemade bread with jam.

- Melkesjokolade : The thing every Norwegian misses when they are on holiday. Milk chocolate, either in a small bar or a big bar. Because you're worth it!

- Smalahove: The only thing our group was skeptical about putting on this list. Were we going to write about things that are traditional or things that actually taste good and aren't dead animal parts?
Anyways, here it is... Cooked sheep's head served with something we can't really focus on because, in case you didn't notice, the sheep's ear..!

- Krumkake: Made of egg, sugar, flour, potato flour, water and butter. Formed in something that looks like and old fashioned waffle iron, then you twist it into a cone. Then you fill it with whipped cream..
